The world building in this Victorian London is superb. The mysterious surrounding Lily’s father disappearance is gripping, and I really like how the story’s conclusion is satisfying and intense. Although the first part is quite slow, the action and thrill truly begin when Lily, Robert, and her mechanical fox, Malkin finally meet. Plotwise, it is both mysterious and exciting. Luckily, she found Robert, a friend who would accompany her solving the mystery of his father’s accident. Soo enough, silver-eyed men started to follow her. When her father went missing and presumed dead, Lily had a hard time believing this especially when the people around her act suspiciously. Thankfully, I really, really enjoy this book!Ĭogheart follows Lily and her search for her lost father. Middle-grade books and contemporaries save me whenever I’m having a ‘reading slump.’ The gorgeous cover caught my attention first, so after reading the blurb, I didn’t hesitate to request this on NetGalley.
